Chinese Students Visit Beit Hatfuzot

This past week, Nishmat's five Chinese students visited Beit Hatfuzot (The Diaspora Museum) in Tel Aviv. This outing is part of an ongoing process aimed at helping the Chinese students, who are currently undergoing conversion, create an integrated identity, composed of their past experiences, present Torah learning, and future connection with the Jewish people.
The goals of the visit were twofold, to expose the young women to the diversity and common heritage of the Jewish people and to delve into the rich history of the Jewish community in Kei Feng, China. Because of the difficult political situation in China, the young women know very little about the history of their community. A better understanding of their roots will enhance their ability to build a cohesive Jewish identity. The students are busily preparing a presentation of their research for Nishmat students and staff.
