Glaubach Center’s New Webinar: OU Campus Educators Learn to Teach Brides

Fourteen women, all Jewish educators on American college campuses, just completed a new 15-session webinar qualifying them as kallah teachers (who teach brides Jewish-law’s essentials of married life). Developed by U.S. Yoatzot Halacha (Women Advisors in Jewish Law) of Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center (MGC) and underwritten by OU-JLIC (Orthodox Union’s Seif Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus), the course offered professional development for the women among the 30 young modern-Orthodox couples employed by OU-JLIC, who “foster and cultivate Orthodox Jewish life” and model married life on American university campuses.
 
In addition to in-depth Torah study that included Shulchan Aruch and other classic texts, participants “explored the foundations of healthy relationships and healthy intimacy,” said Teaneck Yoetzet Halacha Shoshana Samuels, who conducted the webinars. Sessions were augmented by OU and MGC rabbinic authorities, a psychotherapist, and Rabbi Jeremy Stern of Organization for the Resolution of Agunot (ORA).
 
Participants especially appreciated learning the variety of "halachic options and how to teach them to both observant and not-yet observant brides," commented a webinar graduate.
