Nishmat Celebrates Chag HaSigd

Ethiopian Israeli Jewish Women - sigd

Nishmat Ethiopian Women (N.E.W) program students transform the Esther Kryss Bet Midrash into an Ethiopian-Israeli heritage museum.

They cook traditional Ethiopian cuisine, and dress in traditional Ethiopian grab as they educate the entire staff and student body as well as teenage Ethiopian-Israeli immigrants from around the country about their rich and unique heritage.

The students put on a performance for hundreds, as they tell stories of their families' hopes and dreams, share both heart-wrenching and heartwarming Aliyah stories, and their yearning for a rebuilt Jerusalem. Through song, dance, and poems these young women bring a pride in heritage as they educate others about the uniqueness of the Ethiopian-Israeli journey.
