Nishmat’s 26th Annual Dinner in New York

“What Rabbanit Henkin and Nishmat are doing for the Jewish people is profound and immeasurable,” said AFN Board Member Ari Herman, Guest of Honor with his wife, Netti Minsker Herman (Class of 2003), at Nishmat’s 26th Anniversary Gala, held last week in New York. “The Rabbanit’s uplifting vision of Judaism… is halachic, deeply Zionist and warmly inclusive, and, as we’ve all seen… definitely resilient. I think it represents the best of what we can be as modern Orthodox Jews.”

One of Nishmat’s most ebullient supporters and a Nishmat continuing education student, Rachel Sapoznik of South Florida, a member of the International Board of Governors, was also honored. Yoetzet Halacha Shoshana Samuels, beloved Yoetzet for three synagogues in Teaneck, NJ, and a consortium of synagogues and schools in Los Angeles, received the first Nishmat Miriam Glaubach Center Award for Excellence.

Kudos to Gala Chairs Faith & Andy Charles, Wendy & Sholem Greenbaum, and Tamar & Dov Kahane, and to Co-Chairs Jacqueline Sapoznik Charles & Zachary Charles, Robin Lipton Goldstein, Karen & Jason Hammerman, Tovah & Josh Marmer, Francine & Adam Mermelstein, Lisa & Eli Schilowitz and an enormously enthusiastic Gala Committee.
