  • Chag HaSigd, October 2, 2010 A celebration of Ethiopian Jewish pride of heritage as our students recounted their families' yurning for Jerusalem, and their Aliyah stories.
  • Leil Hoshanah Rabbah, September 28, 2010 Early evening program and all night learning till dawn at NISHMAT in Jerusalem. Including the honoring of Harriet S. Schimel, Founding President, American Friends of Nishmat. Keynote speaker, Caroline Glick, Managing Editor, The Jerusalem Post and Senior Fellow, Center for security Policy, "The Zionish Miracle: Time to Realize What We Have". Click here to see the program.
  • Elul Torah Study Program, August 31, 2010 Nishmat opened the doors of the Beit Midrash to all women. The Elul program was free and ran from August 31st - September 16th 2010.

Past Events:

  • The Sigd Festival, November 2007. The Ethiopian Sigd festival falls on 29th Cheshvan, and is a festival unique to this community. The letters s-g-d are the same as in "Mesgid", one of two Ethiopian Jewish terms for synagogue, or Temple, a clear indication of its association with Jerusalem and its centrality in Jewish life and ritual.   • Nishmat's Bet Midrash Chevrati for Social Action This year, in partnership with Dr. Monique C. Katz, Nishmat established the Bet Midrash Chevrati, a weekly forum on social justice and Jewish values. Click here to read more.
  • Nishmat is a world center for Jewish scholaship for women in Jerusalem. Nishmat's many programs meld a contemporary articulation of halacha with rigorous educational standards, social awareness, and a commitment to broaden the participation of women in Jewish life and leadership.   • Celebration in Jerusalem Marks 1st Decade of Yoatzot Halacha, Sukkot 2009. Nishmat hosted a historic celegration marking the tenth anniversary of the first certification of Orthodox women scholars as Yoatzot Halacha (women advisors in Jewish Law) and the graduation ceremony of its sixth class. Rabbis declared that the program had become "a permanent feature of halachic decision making." Click here to read more.

  • Campus Celebration, Chol Hamoed Sukkot 2007. Nearly 300 of Nishmat's supporters, students, alumnae, and faculty gathererd under s'chach and starry skies for a festive celebration of Nishmat's new campus.Celebration held n what many said was "Jerusalem's most beautiful Sukkah."
