"What I love about the Nishmat Alisa Flatow Overseas Intermediate Program is that it combines beautiful commitment to Torah with openness and intellectual honesty. Our questions are seen not as unwelcome challenges, but as the gateway to deeper appreciation. Learning in a Bet Midrash full women who are passionate about Torah is a tremendous privilege."

MA in International Studies,
Johns Hopkins University

The Intermediate Program is for college graduates who can already learn a Biblical text and work through the basic commentators, and are looking to enter a setting of full-time intensive study. These programs enable you to become grounded in advanced learning skills leading to independence in textual study and, at the same time, to immerse yourself in Torah values.

The hallmark of learning at Nishmat is independent capability in Torah study. With guidance from top teachers, you prepare for your chavruta learning as you and your study partner encounter the sources armed with questions for guided learning. You quickly find yourself attending many classes delivered in Hebrew. Schedules can be customized, and students routinely take some classes from either the advanced levels, or beginning level programs, all in accordance with their own needs. The Intermediate and Advanced programs feature a combined Israeli-American environment and an emphasis on both high-level study and spiritual growth.

Nishmat's English speakers form their own caring community of women striving in Torah, and at the same time meld into the larger Israeli Nishmat community. Teachers and students share frequent weekday meals and often celebrate Shabbat and holidays together. Students form lasting relationships with teachers and classmates, which continue long after leaving Nishmat.
